LAL Endotoxin Limits & Karl Fischer Water Content in Cell Culture

Cell-based assays are exceptionally sensitive to bacterial endotoxins (lipopolysaccharides) and uncontrolled moisture content.

Limulus Amebocyte Lysate (LAL) Endotoxin Testing

Bacterial endotoxins can trigger immune responses in cultured cells, invalidating receptor binding and signal transduction assays. Purivo Biolabs mandates LAL endotoxin testing on all cell-culture grade batches, certifying endotoxin levels below 0.05 EU/mg.

Karl Fischer Titration for Moisture Content

Residual water in lyophilized peptide cakes accelerates hydrolysis, leading to rapid degradation into inactive fragments. Karl Fischer titration quantifies water content, ensuring levels remain strictly below 5.0% for long-term storage stability.

Researchers should always verify both LAL and Karl Fischer values on the batch Certificate of Analysis prior to initiating delicate in-vitro experiments.

Relevant Analytical Reference Standards

Vials referenced in this protocol are supplied with batch-specific RP-HPLC & Mass Spectrometry certificates.
